Information Collected

By its very nature, the Ask An Anthropologist website receives personal information. How is this information used? Ask An Anthropologist requests email addresses, names, and grade level of the people submitting questions. This information provides the minimum amount of information for our scientists to tailor an answer for an individual. For those using our feedback form, we sometimes like to reply to the individual to clarify what suggestion(s) they have submitted.

The data collected is not stored in any online database and is not given or sold to any other agency. At times we do email students and instructors to find out if our answers were of help. This helps us to improve the site.

When did human ancestors begin walking on two legs and how do we know?

By volunteering, or simply sending us feedback on the site. Scientists, teachers, writers, illustrators, and translators are all important to the program. If you are interested in helping with the website we have a volunteers page to get the process started.
